Our Dual Extraction Process

At Mendo Extracts, we use a dual extraction method designed to capture the full spectrum of beneficial compounds found in functional mushrooms. We begin with carefully cultivated mushrooms grown on our Mendocino farm using premium hardwood substrates and organic ingredients.

The mushrooms are first freeze-dried, a gentle preservation process that removes moisture while helping retain delicate compounds, aroma, color, and nutritional integrity. Freeze-drying allows us to process mushrooms at their peak quality without the heat degradation associated with conventional drying methods.

Once freeze-dried, the mushrooms undergo a two-stage extraction process:

1. Alcohol Extraction

The mushroom material is slowly extracted in food-grade alcohol to dissolve and capture alcohol-soluble compounds such as triterpenes, sterols, and other beneficial constituents.

2. Hot Water Extraction

After the alcohol extraction is complete, the same mushroom material is carefully simmered in purified water to extract water-soluble compounds, including beta-glucans and complex polysaccharides.

The two extracts are then combined in precise ratios to create a full-spectrum dual extract, delivering both alcohol-soluble and water-soluble compounds in a single tincture.

Why We Use Dual Extraction

Many beneficial mushroom compounds cannot be fully extracted using water or alcohol alone. By utilizing both methods, we are able to produce a more complete extract that reflects the mushroom's natural complexity.
